About the event:

For this September event, DSC India’s Chapter Leader Vandana Verma, will be joined by two very special guests, Vishwas Narayan and Komal Preet Kaur.

Vishwas is a technophile who believes in “Security lies with the hands of implemetors” and is a community advocate in a company called as opstree where he practices shift left and guard right practices with a lot of devops practices and fundamentally understands that there is a need to change the way we think pipelines thus he believes that practices when evolved in an organization is a win win situation for an organization.

With over a decade of experience in product security, Komal has worked on wide range of products, from smart cars to applications and almost everything in between. In her current role, Komal is leading the security engineering team at Jumio Corporation for building DevSecOps, application & infrastructure security function.

Vishwas Narayan will start us of with a talk on Api security best practices. He will provide a demo oriented session where he will talk about the impact of Bola vulnerability, API testing and best practices to prevent API from being hacked.

Komal Preet Kaur will then take over and talk about DevSecOps and the ownership battle between Engineering & Infosec. While shiftleft/DevSecOps are buzz words that are loosely used today everywhere, its success boils down to how effectively the ownership battle between the Engineering teams and the security teams is resolved. No matter how many tools you integrate far left, the ultimate test of faith comes in deciding effectively who consumes the results and who acts on them.
